Aberdeen City Council has an established programme of air quality monitoring dating back to 1999.  Monitoring equipment comprises of 4 continuous monitoring stations that provide information on current pollution levels.  Long term monitoring is also undertaken at over 30 sites across the city.  A summary of the monitoring results is available in the Air Quality Progress Report, June 2007.

This website is designed to provide real time air quality data from the continuous monitoring stations located in Aberdeen.  Data is uploaded on a three-hourly basis to provide the latest readings.  The pollutants monitored at each location are listed under the details for each site.

All parameters that are included on this site can be plotted on a graph and printed out.  Visitors to the website can register their email details and data for the selected parameters from each site will be forwarded by email.  The system can generate email alerts if a user-selected parameter exceeds a predefine value.  This facility may be of benefit for those who are predisposed to suffer the effects of an air pollution episode (e.g. asthma sufferers).
